FAIRBURY - Gilbert Leon Ifft: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Pantagraph, The (Bloomington, IL) - Wednesday, August 27, 1997 Deceased Name: FAIRBURY - Gilbert Leon Ifft FAIRBURY - Gilbert Leon Ifft, 63, of Fairbury was dead at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 26, 1997) at his residence. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Apostolic Christian Church in Fairbury, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and one hour before the service Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Morton Apostolic Christian Home for the Handicapped. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; one daughter, Suzanne K. (Gary) Leaman, Rockton; three sons, Leon D. (Lois) Ifft, Honolulu, Hawaii; Darrell W. (Rachel) Ifft, Chenoa; and Loren J. Ifft, Fairbury; six sisters, Margaret Ulm, Creve Coeur; Velda Ifft, Fairbury; Mary Ann Young, Hoopeston; Carolyn Bolliger, Salem, Ore.; Dorothy Young, Cissna Park; and Lola Young, Fairbury; three brothers, Arnold Ifft and Fred Ifft, both of Fairbury; and Bernard Ifft, Pontiac; and eight grandchildren His parents, two brothers, two sisters and one son, Daniel, preceded him in death. Mr. Ifft was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Fairbury, a son of Fred and Mary Ellen Bachtold Ifft. He married Mary Ellen Bolliger on Jan. 14, 1956, in Pontiac. He was a lifelong Fairbury resident and was educated in Fairbury schools. He had farmed in the Fairbury area and painted houses and also cleared snow in the area. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury.
