About Geraldine Barrows
Geraldine (Jeri) G. Barrows, 76, formerly of Indian River, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2013 at Walker Methodist Health Center in Minneapolis, MN. A graveside service was held on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Ohioville Cemetery in Indian River. Pastor Glen McIntyre officiated. Jeri was born Dec. 1, 1936 in Dearborn, MI. She was the daughter of George and Mary (Cessna) Selke. She grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from MacKenzie High School in Detroit. On May 4, 1957, she married Robert Barrows. Robert's career in the Army took the Barrows' family throughout the United States and Europe. In 1979, Jeri moved to Indian River. She had been employed at Dr. Marshall Morley's Indian River dental practice for many years. Jeri had enjoyed bowling. She enjoyed plays, musicals and theater. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars and the VFW Post 7439 Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Indian River. She also served many years with the Red Cross. She is survived by her companion, Jerry Gieske of Cheboygan; children, Mark (Debby) Barrows of Ramsey, MN, Cheri (Mike) Dunn of Gaylord; grandchildren, Karen, Christine, Bill, Kim, James and Ashley; sister, JoAnn Korczynski of Dearborn, MI, and several nieces and nephews. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents.
