About George Ubl
George Ubl was a writer/reporter. He was the Senior's reporter for "The Gazette," and wrote columns under "Senior's Report" for the Senior's Center. He also had several poems published in the paper, possibly 1 a week. It doesn't take much reading to see Mr. Ubl was very romantic. His wife agreed with me. Page 8-A, Wednesday, December 2, 1998 - Greenwood Democrat "George UBL, 80, of Greenwood, Ark. died Wednesday, November 25, 1998 in Fort Smith, Ark. He was a retired Merchant Seaman, Veteran of the American Merchant Marines and veteran of World War II, Korean, and Vietnam, and a member of Harris-Hannah V.F.W. Post #6527. Survivors include his wife, Alberta UBL of the home; one daughter, Roxanna ANGELLE of Port Neches, Texas; three step-daughter, Bonnie SMITH of Port Neches, Texas, Becky ASKEW of Port Neches, Texas and Brenda HAGANS of Lumberton, North Carolina; one step-son, Tommy DORSEY of Fort Smith, Ark; several grandchildren. Graveside services were November 27, 1998 at Mount Harmony Cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood."
