About George Thaxton
George A. Thaxton, 65, of Cottageville, WV, passed away August 31, 2023 at his home following an extended illness. He was born September 30, 1957, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Orrin J. and Thelma (Shafer) Thaxton. He was a 1975 Ripley High School graduate. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local # 132 Charleston, WV. He was a member of the Beni Kedem Temple Shrine, Charleston, WV and a member of the Cottageville Lodge #54 AF & AM. He enjoyed music and was a drummer. He also enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 47 years Penny Lee (Click) Thaxton; sons, Kevin D. Thaxton and Kyle N. Thaxton of Cottageville, Kurtis C. (Jessica) Thaxton of Ripley; grandchildren, Pamela "Pammy" Lee (Jacob) Thaxton, Deyton and Jaycee Statts, Kolson, Emmy, Neil, and Logan Thaxton. Service will be 4 p.m. ~ Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV. Burial will be in Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville, WV. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Shriners Children's Hospital located at One Children's Plaza – 2 West ~~ Dayton, Ohio 45404 Condolences may be shared with the family at www.castofuneralhome.com Arrangements are under the care of Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV.
