About Gay Walls
Gay C. Walls, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Sienna Meadows in DeForest. She was born on Sept 16, 1936, in La Crosse, WI, daughter of Walter and Eldiva (Knobloch) Sievers. Gay graduated from Madison West High School. She continued her education in nursing school in Madison and began a fulfilling 40+ year career as a registered nurse. Gay was united in marriage to Leroy Walls on May 25, 1956. She began her nursing career at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in California. Then she and Leroy returned to Madison where she worked at Central Wisconsin Center and later for Madison Visiting Nurse service, from which she retired. Gay felt called to continue caring for others, so she began volunteering in her retirement at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Lodi. Gardening was Gay's passion, from growing vegetables to flowers. Gay enjoyed showing her Persian cats and was a true animal lover - both cats and dogs. She had four German Shepherds over the years, named Brinny, Tasha, Heidi and Sassy. They were Gay and Leroy's kids and protectors. Gay is survived by her sisters, WallyJo (Todd) Camphausen, Jill Elver and Sally Olson; nephew, Ted (Evelyn) Bingham; many nieces and nephews; Goddaughter, Ashly Bingham; and loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy on Sept. 11, 2022; and brothers-in-law, Charles David Elver and Jay Olson. Final resting place in Cottage Grove Cemetery Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation
