About Frank Iaconis

Frank Leo Iaconis, long time Santa Clara County resident, entered into eternal life on October 15, 2015 in Southern California at the age of 90 following a lengthy battle with diabetes. Frank passed away peacefully in the hospital, surrounded by his family. Frank was born in McCloud, California, the youngest child of Luigi and Rose Iaconis. At 17 years of age, Frank attempted to join the US Army during WWII but after his oldest brother Joe was killed in Belgium, Frank's mother agreed to sign for her under aged son only if he went into the US Coast Guard. Frank served in the Coast Guard until the end of the war. After WWII, the family moved to San Jose, where Frank met and married Lena (Dolly) Nottoli, his wife of 66 years. Frank and Dolly have four children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Frank had many hobbies, some of which included 49er football games (he held season tickets for years), SF Giant's Baseball games, Warrior's basketball games, walking, traveling and cooking. Frank took great delight in making his family wonderful Italian meals every Sunday, and he loved to tell stories about his childhood growing up in McCloud. Frank retired from Bergen Brunswig Company after 40 years of employment. Frank was an active member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church and the Italian Catholic Federation. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Luigi and Rose Iaconis and his brothers, Joe and John Iaconis. Frank is survived by his wife Dolly Iaconis, son's, Jeff and Timothy Iaconis, daughters, Rene Duckgeischel and Shari Gilbert, sons-in-law John Duckgeischel and Tom Gilbert and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Iaconis. Frank also leaves grandchildren, Noelle and Ashley Duckgeischel, Leanne Westphal, Ross and Abigail Iaconis, Michael Westphal, Cassie Iaconis and two great-grandsons, Logan and Carter Iaconis. A private memorial service was held for the family in Southern California. Frank is interred at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. Donations in Frank's name may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn. Published in San Jose Mercury News/San Mateo County Times on Oct. 29, 2015.
