Francis A. Daddona

WATERBURY — Francis A. Daddona, 81, of Courtland Avenue, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Saint Mary's Hospital after an extended illness. He was the widower of Florence Barquero Daddona. Francis was born May 6, 1929, in Waterbury, the son of the late Anthony and Florence (Dance) Daddona. A lifelong resident of Waterbury, Francis attended Crosby High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Francis worked as a machinist at Airpax for more than 30 years before his retirement. In his younger years, Francis and his family would look forward to Sunday drives when he would say to the family "lets go get lost." He was an avid sports fan and loyal UConn women's basketball fan and was a member of the Adelphi Club. He enjoyed traveling to the casino and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a longtime and active parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church. Francis is survived by his son, David Daddona of East Hartford; his daughter, Marion Szarzynski of Naugatuck; his brother, John Daddona of Waterbury; his two sisters, Angela Shaw of Waterbury, and Rita Giannini of Oakville; his five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Daddona will held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury, with close family friend, Rev Aiden Donahue, officiating. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours.
