Evaletta Ruth Caddy

OBITUARY published November 20, 2016: Evaletta “Ruth” Cunningham Caddy September 5, 1931 – November 7, 2016 In Loving Memory of Evaletta Ruth Cunningham Caddy: Sept. 5, 1931 – Nov. 7, 2016 A longtime Montrose resident, Ruth passed away at the age of 85 on Nov. 7, 2016, in Show Low, Arizona. She was born on Sept. 5, 1931, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Edward Fletcher and Lucetta Jane Cunningham. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Annette Caddy. On Oct. 16, 1949, Ruth was married to William S. Caddy, son of Joseph S. and Jessie Ellen Smith Caddy, in Delta, Colorado. Ruth was a graduate of Montrose High School. Ruth and her husband lived in Long Beach, California, for 37 years. Bill worked 35 years for and retired from McDonald Douglas (Boeing) in 1989, at which time they returned to Colorado, retiring in Montrose. In August 2015, Ruth and Bill moved to Show Low, Arizona, to be near their daughter, Louella. Ruth is survived by her husband, William, of 67 years; and three children: Louella Caddy Smith and her husband, James V. Smith, of Show Low, Arizona; Jerry L. Caddy and his wife Rebecca of Porter, Texas; and Darrell R. Caddy of Long Beach, California. She is also survived by four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Ruth will long be remembered for her 20 years as a volunteer of the Montrose Memorial Hospital, and a longtime member of the Colona Helping Hand Club. She, along with her family members, enjoyed the annual old-time Caddy Family Reunion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at the Crippin Chapel, 802 Main St., Montrose, Colorado. Services will conclude at the chapel.
