About Eugene Paananen
PFC US Army World War II Born in Ironwood Michigan and a student of Ironwood public schools. He was a proud WWII Veteran of the Arym 106th Infantry Division 422nd Regiment, and ex POW, Fought, Wounded and captured in the Battle of the Bulge. Purple Heart Metal. Loving Husband of Elaine Haaro for 55 years. After the war he worked 28 years for the Burroughs Corp. In Detroit Mi and Westlake CA. He was an Electronic Engineer. He held several patents in early computer technology. He enjoyed his family, golf, travel and antiques. He spent his retirement in Mi, AZ and WA. Father of the late David Paananen and Cheryl Paananen. Survived by his other children Terry, Bill, Ron, and Daughter Sue Ellen of WA, son Richard of England. Grandchildren Jon, Will, Jeff, Erin, Alan, Brandon, Eric, James, Andrew, Emma and Grace. Also survived by his brothers Rueben and Arne, as well as many friends and family in Michigan, Washington, Arizona and California.
