Emma Ifft: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Pantagraph, The (Bloomington, IL) - Monday, December 15, 2008 Deceased Name: Emma Ifft FAIRBURY Emma Verena Ifft, 87, of Fairbury died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 13, 2008) at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Fairbury. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury. Emma was born Oct. 2, 1921, in Fairbury, the daughter of I.L. and Olga Doebler Schmidt. She married Elmer W. Ifft on Jan. 23, 1944, in Cropsey. He survives in Fairbury. Also surviving are their four children; one brother; two sisters-in-laws; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Emma was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Bill and Ed Schmidt; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Emma was a homemaker. She was a 1940 graduate of Fairbury Township High School and was a secretary and bookkeeper in the 1940s. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest.
