From page B3 of the Tuesday, Nov 25, 2003 Beatrice (NE) Daily Sun: Elsie M. Saathoff, 78, Wymore, died Sunday evening, Nov. 23, 2003, at her home. She was born March 30, 1925, at Wymore and was a 1944 graduate of Wymore High School. She married Alfred H. Saathoff on Oct. 2, 1945, at the LCMS parsonage at Marysville, Kan. They farmed west of Wymore before moving into Wymore in 1987. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Wymore and the former WMB Club in Wymore. Her hobbies included spending time at the farm after they moved into town, spending time with her children and grandsons and caring for the neighborhood kittens. Survivors: sons, Alan Saathoff and wife Sue of Unadilla, Gary Saathoff of Wymore; daughter, Cheryl Henrichs and husband Carey of Wymore; grandsons, Matthew Henrichs and Michael Henrichs; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Christina (Vonasek) Nemec; her husband, Alfred H. Saathoff (Oct. 29, 2003); sisters, Bessie Nemec, Eleanor Emery and Viola Izer. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 10th & E Streets, Wymore, Pastor Don McKillop officiating. Family prayer service: 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, parish hall of the church. Burial: Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs. The body will lie in state at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home until 9 p.m. Tuesday, and at the church one hour preceding the service. Memorials to the church with Clarence and Elaine Oltmans in charge. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, in charge of arrangements.
