A TRIBUTE published in the pages of THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE JULY 22, 1964 Entered into Eternal Rest Tuesday, July 21, 1964 ELMER R. TATE Rites For Retired Grocer Will Be Tomorrow Services for Elmer R. Tate retired farmer and carpenter of 4278 Berkshire, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at First General Baptist Church at 1354 Wells Station Road where he was a deacon. Burial will be in Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Millington with Munford Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Tate, who was 70, died at St. Joseph Hospital at 12:10 p.m. yesterday. He was born in Hamilton County, Illinois and lived in Memphis and Shelby County for 30 years. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mamie C. Tate; six daughters, Mrs. Ruby Foster (Cecil) of Tipton, Indiana, Mrs. Geraldine Timbs (Robert) of 1717 McAdams, Mrs. Marietta Carter (Bill), Mrs. Betty Wood (Gene) and Mrs. JoAnna Rosas (Louis) all of Millington, Mrs. Pansey Wooster (Keith) of Dresden, Tennessee; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Ewing of 361 North McNeil, Mrs. Nettie Bizzell of Sikeston, Missouri, and Mrs. Nannie Weeks of West Plains, Missouri; 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
