About Ellis Fagan

Ellis Mack Fagan III, 82, of Little Rock died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Hospice Home Care Inpatient Unit. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. Ellis (E.M.)was born March 11, 1925, in Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating from Little Rock High School, he completed two degrees at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville: in 1950, a B.S. in Business Administration, and in 1952, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the Alaskan Division, Search and Rescue. Like his father, he had a life long love of flying. He often said he was more comfortable behind the controls of an airplane than behind the wheel of a car. Following in the footsteps of his grandmother, Anna A. F. Fagan, he served as CEO of Fagan Electric Company, an electrical/mechanical contracting firm that she founded in 1913. Proud of his affiliation with the Masons, he was a member of the Magnolia Blue Lodge, No. 60, the Scottish Rite Consistory, the Shrine of North America, the Royal Order of Jesters Court 12 and served as Potentate of Scimitar Temple in 1963. Ellis was president of the Arkansas Chapter, National Electrical Contractors Association, served as a member of the Arkansas Section, American Institution of Electrical Engineers, and was the only Arkansas member of Federated Electrical Contractors Association. Along with his late wife, Frances, Ellis was active in the American Field Service and Girl Scouts. He always called Else Hope Kobbe his "Norwegian daughter," and was proud to play an integral role in her marriage to Harald Kobbe in New Orleans in 1996. The family would like to acknowledge the devoted care, thoughtfulness and understanding provided by Angela Henderson during his last year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Glover Fagan; his father, state Senator Ellis M. Fagan, Jr.; and his mother and stepfather, May Warren and Arthur Dowell. Survivors include his three children, David E. Fagan and his wife, Nancy, of Scottsdale, Arizona; Fran F. Holmes and her husband, Joe, of Little Rock; and Warren G. Fagan and his wife, Pam, also of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Anna Fagan Mabrey, Winston Ellis Fagan and David Carter Fagan; a half-sister, Judy Fagan of Flippin, Arkansas; and a half-brother, Duval Fagan of Springdale, Arkansas. Visitation will be today, Tuesday, June 26 from 2-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Road), Little Rock. A memorial service and Jester Rose Service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive in Little Rock, on Wednesday, June 27, at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Karen Akin and Rev. Steve Hancock. Burial will be private in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be made to Shrine Hospital for Children, c/o Scimitar Shrine Temple, #1 Scimitar Circle, Little Rock, Ark. 72209, Second Presbyterian Church, or Alzheimer's Arkansas, 10411 W. Markham St., Little Rock, Ark. 72205. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200.
