From the Bennington Banner March 11, 1966 Mrs. Beach Dies at 74 Mrs. Elizabeth P. Beach, 74, of 910 East Main St., widow of C. Thomas Beach, and resident here since 1947, died Thursday night at the Crescent Manor Nursing Home after a two month illness. A daughter of the late Preston and Betsey (Royce) Spring, she was born in East Hampton, L.I., Sept 10, 1891. Her education had been through private tutoring. She was married to Mr. Beach at Easton, Md. and the family moved from Hatboro, Pa., to Bennington 19 years ago. Mr. Beach, who died in 1952, was formerly on the faculty of Bennington High School, a teacher of science and mathematics. Mrs. Beach had been active in the community until her recent illness and any worthwhile cause found her a willing helper. She was a ward secretary at Putnam Memorial Hospital for seven years. For several years she was a receptionist at the New Englander Motel. In the same capacity, she gave commendable service for the Greater Bennington Association, particularly to tourists visiting Bennington. Her gracious way and pleasing personality had endeared her to many and her interest in young people was ever manifest. Her marked activity belied her years. A member of the Plain Dirt Gardeners, she was adept not only at growing flowers and plants, but also in their arrangement. Her home and family had been her primary interests. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and belonged to St. Mary's Guild and the Altar Guild of that church. Survivors are three daughters; Mrs. Kenneth C. (Betsey) Porter and Mrs. Donald (Lucy) Johnson, both of Bennington; Mrs. Frederick (Judith) Bergen of Petersburg, VA; one son, Rodney V. Beach of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held in St. Peter's Episcopal Church Saturday at 2 pm with the Rev. Fredercik B. Wolf, rector of St. Peter's Church, officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel with burial to be in this cemetery in the spring.
