Eleanor Nadobny

Mrs. Nadobny passed away peacefully with family by her side at Bayfield Assisted Living the evening of Friday, December 4, 2020, age 100. Eleanor was born in Bay City, Michigan on October 2, 1920 to the late Michael and Clara (Damrau) Lewandowski and resided there her entire life. She married the late Arthur J. Nodobny in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on September 6, 1941 and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1960. Eleanor was a loyal and devout member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish- St. Stanislaus Church. She worked as a Bookkeeper for the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 362 for 33 years, having retired on January 1, 2000. Eleanor was a member of the Local 393 OPEIU, an Associate Member Local 362 Retirees and an Associate Member of Area Four Retirees. She also belonged to the "Bay City Gems" – a local group of women who monthly meet for lunch and fellowship. Eleanor will always be remembered as an extremely generous, kind, and caring woman who deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved gathering her family all together for dinner. For over forty years Eleanor would faithfully prepare a home cooked meal for her family each and every Sunday. She was a wonderful Polish cook with some of her specialties being Golumpki, Polish Duck Soup Czarnina, meatballs, and Coconut Cream and Apple pies. There was always dessert, plenty of food and plenty of take-away for all. Eleanor liked to travel. Alaska, the Panama Canal, and Branson, Missouri are just a few of her trips. She also traveled monthly to the casino and was frequently a lucky winner, having always shared her winnings with others making it "her treat". Besides her husband and parents, Eleanor was preceded in death her infant daughter Mary Jane and siblings Marie Scnople, Lorraine Duford, Bob Lukowski, and Patricia Rezler. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, 1503 Kosciuszko Ave., Bay City, Michigan 48708. Fr. Bill Rutkowski will preside with private interment in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
