About E. Schallau
Graduated from the University of Iowa School of Nursing, with further training in physical therapy at UCLA and the Los Angeles Children's Hospital School of Physical Therapy. Entered the U.S. Army on October 1, 1943, in which she served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Medical Specialist Corps. During her career, worked at the University of Iowa Hospital, the Los Angeles Children's and Oakland Hospitals, the U.S. Army's Dibble General Hospital in Menlo Park, Calif. Helped implement the physical therapy department at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa. With her sister Alice, compiled and published a genealogy of the Schallau family in America, 1956. Funeral notice: Sioux City Journal, Jan. 14, 2007.
