Dorothy Ruth Vander Veen

Dorothy Ruth Vander Veen, age 85 of Randolph, Wisconsin passed away on November 29th, 2015. A private funeral service will be held at Community Funeral Home, Randolph, Wisconsin. Reverend Tim Ehrhardt will officiate. Burial will be in Friesland Cemetery. Dorothy was born on September 27th, 1930 in Roseland (Chicago), IL. The daughter of Albert and Nellie (Bos) Van Bruggen. She was a 1948 graduate of Roseland Christian High School, attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI and taught school in DeMotte, IN. Dorothy married Frank John Vander Veen, the love of her life, on June 17th, 1950 at an outdoor ceremony in Dolton, IL. She then began raising a family while working alongside Frank on the family farm and later helping with the fertilizer business. She loved spending time with family and friends along with traveling the United States with her beloved husband. Dorothy was an avid reader and faithfully read to her children before bedtime. She was a fierce protector of her little family and was always there for us when the need arose. Dorothy was a member of the First Reformed Church of Randolph. Survivors include her four children; Sid (Carol) Vander Veen, Raymondville, MO, Lynell (Rick) Pettibone, Rio, WI, Janet (Harvey) Mosley, Camdenton, MO, and Frank (Bernie) Vander Veen, Jr., Alto, NM; seven grandchildren, Scott (Jessica) Vander Veen, Jake (Linsay) Vander Veen, Amy (John) Beattie, Dr. Megan Mosley (Keith Knabjian), John (Megan) Vander Veen, Leah (Nathan) Vander Veen Campbell, David Mosley; six great grandchildren, Austin Vander Veen, Paige Beattie, Hunter Vander Veen, Samuel Beattie, Jacob Vander Veen and Kayden Vander Veen Campbell; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Vander Veen and Shirley Van Bruggen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 2001, her parents, her brother Jack and great grandson Nicholas Beattie. A special thank you to all who helped provide care for Dorothy over the last several years. No words can express our gratitude but just know this world needs more kind and compassionate people like you.
