About Doris Sobieski

Doris M. Sobieski, age 87 of Wautoma, Berlin, and Juliette Manor Nursing Home of Berlin passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Juliette Manor, where she had resided for the past 12 years. Doris was born May 28, 1935 in Berlin, the daughter of Paul and Marian (Melaney) Sobieski. She was a graduate of the French School. a small one room school, Berlin High School, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. At the age of 20, Doris began her teaching career at the Blalir School in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She began that position with 37 students and enjoyed every day of teaching! She continued teaching there for several years and then continued her teaching career in the Appleton Public School System, St. Stanislaus Catholic School in Berlin, and her remaining 15 years of teaching in the Wautoma School District. Doris gave her time and attention to many students in need and volunteered many hours of tutoring, teaching, and care. Doris was an accomplished pianist and organist. She gave piano lessons for years to many, many students. She played for services in churches of many denominations, especially St. Mark's Catholic Church in Redgranite and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wautoma. Doris had the special privilege of playing for her own Confirmation at the age of 12. She truly had a wonderful gift. Doris was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wautoma and St. Mark's Catholic Church in Redgranite, WI. She was also a member of the Waushara County Retired Teachers Association, the Wisconsin Teachers Association, and the Redgranite Civic Center. She was a member of the Bughs Lake Association, as well as the Waushara County Historical Society. Doris so enjoyed the many members and neighbors she shared her time with. She was a volunteer in the Waushara County School System, and played the piano in several area nursing homes. Doris brought her gift of music into the lives of so many. She especially enjoyed all of the wonderful company that visited her; her beloved relatives, and many dear friends. Doris is survived by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Sobieski and Sharon Sobieski, and her brother-in-law, Emerson (Nora) Beier. She is also survived by nieces and nephews; Karen (Brian) Dishong, Mike (Laura) Sobieski, Andy (Patty) Sobieski, Dr. Kevin (Dina) Beier, Bryan (Michele) Beier, Sarah Sobieski, and Elizabeth (Eric) Spilman. She is further survived by many great-nieces and nephews, her dear cousins, and many caring friends. Doris was also very blessed with three Godchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marian Sobieski, her dear sister, Ann (Sobieski) Beier, and her dear brothers, Joseph and Edward Sobieski. Thank You to Juliette Manor Nursing Home staff for all the years of wonderful care for Doris. Thank You to the Theda Care at Home Hospice Team. Very Special Thanks go out to Ed, Ellen, John, Pat, Gene, Sue, Tom, Judy T., and everyone who continued their visits to Doris.
