Doreen Marie Taber

Doreen Marie (Vosper) Taber of Fargo, ND, passed away on December 31, 2020. Doreen Marie Vosper was born on December 12, 1926, to Roy and Ruth Vosper and grew up on a farm in Neche, ND, with siblings, June Hanson, Herbert Vosper, Ruth Gulbrandsen, and the late Wesley Vosper. She helped in the fields while her brothers went to war. Doreen received her Bachelor of Science from Moorhead State Teachers College and continued to study education until she retired. Her first teaching job was at Dilworth, MN, where she met and married Robert Taber, who had just returned from four years of service in the Navy in World War II. In 1960 they moved to Moorhead where Doreen taught English and specialized in reading at South Junior High. The family spent decades enjoying the cabin Bob and Doreen built on Fish Lake, a summer base for the grateful kids and a treasure for the grandchildren. When Bob retired, they built a home in rural Wolverton, MN, raising Morgan horses. Even as Doreen continued teaching, they loved being in the country with new neighbors, deer, wild turkeys, and other creatures. Each new grandchild arriving in Doreen's life was introduced to lake and home life and to Doreen's love which gave her great joy. They in turn were able to enrich Doreen's life through to her last breath. After Bob passed away from a long and mighty battle with cancer, Doreen moved to a house in Rose Creek in Fargo where she lived through her recent 94th birthday. She was able to be very involved in the lives of Bria and Zeb from the day they were born celebrating in person all of their achievements. She leaves behind beautiful flower gardens, a lawn she still mowed herself, hundreds of students who admired her and whose lives were impacted by mastering English and reading, and a thriving family of loved ones whose hearts are full of love for her and beautiful memories to sustain them. Doreen leaves behind children: Rebecca (the late John) McCaulley, Edwards, CO, and Thomas (Jane) Taber, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Madison and Wade McCaulley, and Bria (Matthew) Verdoes and Zeb Taber.
