About Donald Siemens

Obituary for Donald Remp Siemens At dawn on June 23, 1930, Momma said, "It's time! Go get the doctor, and fetch your Dad out of the field." Soon after, Donald Remp Siemens joined the family, the fourth of six children. On April 26, 2023, the Lord called, "Don, It's time, come on home, your labors are over." Don was born to Marinus John, "MJ" and Jennie Agnus (Hansen) Siemens at the family farm located in Boone Township near Goldfield, Iowa. Don grew up there, accepted Christ and was baptized in the Christian Church in Goldfield, Iowa on Easter Morning April 5, 1942. He attended the Boone Township #6 School and graduated from Renwick High School in 1948. Don met his future bride Velma, at church camp while in high school. After High School, he trained at Spartan School of Aeronautics in 1948-49 receiving an A & E License now called A & P. He then moved to Mason City and was employed at the city airport. He later moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, working on the Convair B-36 "Peacemaker," a strategic bomber, working in flight test. During the Korean Conflict, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1951-1953, stationed in El Torro, California. On September 10, 1955, in Worthington, Minnesota, Don married his beloved wife Velma. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1955 where Don went to work at American Airlines in the aircraft overhaul department. Don and Velma had three sons Terry, Dan, and Daryl. In 1963, the family moved to Collinsville, Oklahoma where Don was one of the original five founders of Airman Acres Airport, OK93. Don served as the Airman Acres Airport president from its founding in 1963 till passing the baton in 2020 at the age of 90 years old. Don never missed their annual Fly In Bean Dinner. Don retired from American Airlines in 1992 after 37 years. In his retirement years, Don and Velma were able to go on many adventures including traveling to five continents visiting numerous countries; they were even able to take their grandchildren along on some of their adventures. Throughout his lifetime, Don was a faithful member of several Christian Churches serving as an Elder, Deacon, or Sunday School Teacher. He is a beloved member at his church home, First Church of Owasso. Don is preceded in death by his parents and. Sister Betty Anderson, brothers Bill Siemens, Ken Siemens, his sister Margrete Douglas, and his grandson Zachary Bass.
