Donald Lee Bryant

Life's Glance Donald Lee Bryant was born on December 26, 1957, to the late Willie Mae Bell and Henry Detreville in Sanford, FL. He was very beloved among all his siblings. Don was well-known by his nickname "Pompey." He grew up in Mims, FL, where he attended public schools in Brevard County. He graduated from Astronaut High School in 1975. He was employed by Brevard County Parks & Recreation Department where he served diligently for about thirty years. He was a dedicated employee and was well-liked by his supervisors and co-workers. Don accepted Jesus Christ as his LORD and Savior at an early age. Don loved the LORD and sought to serve and honor Him. Don worshipped at St. James Missionary Baptist Church Mims, FL. He loved his family and was always concerned for their welfare. Don was a gentle, friendly and quiet person who would do anything to help others. Don loved listening to gospel music, cooking, football (his favorite teams, NFL, Miami Dolphins and SEC, Florida Gators), basketball (his favorite team, NBA, LA Lakers) and playing cards. Don transitioned peacefully on the first day of summer, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 7:25 p.m. surrounded by his loving family at the home of his sister and brother-in-law in Titusville, FL. The LORD welcomed him into his heavenly kingdom where there is no more crying, suffering or pain. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty, his parents Willie Mae Bell and Henry Detreville, Jr.; brothers: Perk Bryant, Eddie Detreville, Joseph Detreville, Samuel Detreville, Adolfus Detreville, Henry Detreville, III and Woodrow Detreville; and sister, Rozeda Detreville. Those left to cherish Don's memory include his stepsons, David Anderson (Kathy) and Michael Anderson (Renea); his stepdaughter Vanessa Lockhart (Cory); grandchildren: Shiquita, Lavonte, Michaela, Malik, Cory, Mariah, Xavier and Malaysia; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Priscilla Taylor and Clara Davis (Kirk), Easter Lee Gordon (James) and Earnestine Lewis; brothers, Dwight Carroll (Rosemary) and James Bell, Jr. (Lana) and Terry Bryant; sisters-in-law: Thelma Glover (Ernest), Lisa Johnson, Rose Fishmon, Sharon Fairclough; brothers-in-law: Dexter Fishmon (Barbara), Sammy Fairclough, Jr. (Melissa); aunts: Naomi Coger and Blanche Fishmon; uncle, Joseph Fishmon, great aunt: Elizabeth Sims; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members; god father, Coleman Mitchell, Sr., god brothers, David Mitchell (Amanda), Coleman Mitchell, Jr. and Timothy Dunbar; god sisters, Patty Hepburn (Kern) and Lisa Mitchell; god daughters: Tammie Bell, Bianca Dibidab, Teriza Taylor, Addie Noreen and sorrowing friends. The entire family is sincerely grateful for the professional care and assistance provided by the Vitas Staff to Don during his long illness.
