About Don Pavletich
Major League Baseball Player. For twelve seasons (1959, 1959 and 1962 to 1971), he played at the catcher and first baseman positions with the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox. Born Donald Stephen Pavletich, he made his initial impact on the baseball diamond during his years at Nathan Hale High School in Wisconsin. Spotted by a scout with the Cincinnati Reds, he was signed as a bonus baby amateur free agent in 1956 and made his Major League debut on April 20, 1957. His career was interrupted for two years while he served with the United States Army. During his years with the Reds (1957, 1959 to 1969), he split playing time at catcher with Johnny Edwards and during the 1966 season, he produced a career high 69 hits, with 12 home runs. In 538 career regular season games, he compiled 349 hits, with a .254 lifetime batting average. After retiring from baseball. he worked in the banking industry.
