About Dimitry Ignatiev
Born October 17, 1945 in Nordlingen, Germany. Son of Anatoli and Natalie (née Troffmov). Husband of Kristin (née Brown). Father of Matthew (1979), Emily (1981), and Peter (1986). A devoted family man, “Mitch” as he was known by his friends and family, married Kristin Brown in July of 1972 in Milwaukee, WI. The couple moved to the suburb of Wauwatosa and started a family, including three children. Dimitry, a graduate of University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, worked for the Allis- Chalmers Company for many years and was a highly respected member of his community. Dimitry served his country as a medic with C Company 1st of the 12th Air Cavalry Divison, Airmobile during the height of the Vietnam War. Accounts of his service to his country appear in the 2012 book DRAFTED FORCED TO KILL by Peter K. Murnieks where Dimitry is one of the few soldiers who were intentified by name by the books author. While serving in Vietnam, he was exposed to the tactical herbicide and defoliant chemical, Agent Orange, which caused the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia that led to his untimely death February 27, 1995.
