Delores May Carlson

Delores (Dee) Carlson age 75 of Sioux Falls, SD died Tuesday, March 15 2022 at Good Samaritan Village, in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by family. Delores May Jochims was born June 26, 1946 in Mapleton, Iowa to Ted and Mabel Jochims. She was raised around the Dunlap and Mapleton IA area and attended Denison High School. She was united in marriage to Larry Carlson on August 11, 1962, and from this union had four children. They resided in the Denison, Iowa area where they owned several photography studios. They moved to Beaver Creek, Minnesota in 1975. In 1980, Delores moved to Hills, Minnesota, then later to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, while attending the University of Sioux Falls. During this time, she met her fiancé Ron Grave. Delores was employed through the Sioux Falls School District for many years as a teacher's aide, until her final employer, Citibank Daycare. She enjoyed flower gardening, along with sewing. Her greatest love was always children, and spending time with her grandchildren was always on the top of her list. Whether it was at the park or playing games, she adored each and every one and the time spent with them. Delores is survived by daughter: Lori Carlson-Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD; son: Mark (Cindy) Carlson of Ashton, IA; son: Eric (Esther) Carlson of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter,:Dena (Steve) Letscher of Tea, SD; along with a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her fiancé Ron Grave, parents, brother Bob Jochims, and sister Jeannie Greenfield. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with Pastor Jon Splichal Larson officiating. A light luncheon to follow.
