About Daniel Scully
Daniel Robert Scully, Sr. passed away on April 30, 2023, in OKC at 95 years young, well he at least made 95 appear young. He was born on November 4, 1927, in Columbus, OH to Owen A. and Altha Naomi (Palmer) Scully. Dan graduated from high school in Dayton, OH and attended business school in OKC. He enlisted in the army while still in high school and deployed on October 3, 1946, after graduating. He was discharged on March 11, 1948. He was a WWII veteran and was stationed in Korea. After encountering a storm, the ship he was on had to dock in Japan for repairs. It took 2 weeks to get there, and dad would not get on another ship for years until bribed with a cruise from his son and daughter-in-law. Daniel's dad was transferred from Wright Patterson AFB to Tinker AFB, so Daniel came to Oklahoma for vacation and stayed. He met Marlene while working at Borden's and the rest is history. He stayed at Borden's as an accountant for 25 years and then went to Braum's for 14 years before retiring. He loved gardening, spending time with his family especially being grandpa and reading his bible. He also enjoyed watching the ducks in the pond sitting on his son's back porch and playing corn hole and shagging balls for his great grandkids at his daughter's house. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Altha Scully, his brothers, Owen (June) and Dwight Scully and one sister, Mary Nash and great-grandson Landon Garrett Siran.
