D Gordon Godfrey

Published in the Las Vegas Review Journal on March 08, 2009: Gordon Godfrey, 58, of Las Vegas, was born Sept. 18, 1950. He passed away peacefully, March 4, 2009, while sleeping at his home with family. Gordon was a man who devoted his life to his children, family, friends and work. He was always there to lend a smile and provide words of encouragement; a truly selfless man that always put others first, even in his time of need. Born in Preston, Idaho, he spent most of his school years in Los Angeles, and was a graduate of Granada Hills High School. Shortly after that, he moved with family back to Weston, Idaho, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was employed by Cache Valley Dairy in Logan, Utah, where he met his wife to be, Linda K. Elwood. They were later divorced. Gordon worked at Schreibers Cheese for a while before going to trade school in Las Vegas, where he was employed as a service technician with H&O Foods, United Foods, and lastly, Mombo's, where he very much enjoyed and cherished working. Gordon would say "They are the best!" and his friends there treated him as such until the very end. His family is truly grateful to Mombo's. Gordon very much loved his children and was so proud of their accomplishments; he is greatly missed and loved. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Jay Godfrey; and mother, Darlene Ruby Koller Godfrey. Gordon is survived by his father, Delece Elmer Godfrey; sisters, Geraldine Crookston, Christine Carrol, Janeen Leak and Merry Ann Bungard; brothers, Robert V. Godfrey and Ronald K. Godfrey; sons, Eric Todd Godfrey (wife, Nicole) and Matthew Gordon Godfrey (wife, Tammi); three grandsons; and one granddaughter. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, at the Green Valley Stake Center, 410 N. Valle Verde Drive, Henderson, NV 89014. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Weston Cemetery, with family services starting at 10 a.m., at the Weston LDS Church in Weston, Idaho.
