Cyrus grew up in Danbury and graduated from Danbury High School 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served two years as a SeaBee. After the Navy he worked construction for five years in the Pacific Northwest. Cyrus married Beverly Christine Williams on April 16, 1955, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was an accomplished carpenter, mechanic, plumber, electrician; basically he could fix or make anything with his hands. He enjoyed restoring old tractors, furniture and especially his 1924 Model T, the car he learned to drive in. Being a good husband, father, grandfather and provider for his family was very important to Cy. Tom Haag of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carol (Greg) Yost of Beaver City, Nebraska, Bill (Stephanie) Haag of Danbury, James Haag of Ogallala, Nebraska, Kathi (Brendan) Moore of Cedar Bluffs, Kansas, Dr.'s Chris (Claire) Haag of South Bend, Nebraska, and Bev (Durl) Reed of Houston, Texas. Cyrus was blessed with 29 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren with three more on the way; two sisters, Nellie Shay of Seattle, Washington and Caroline Duron of Halstead, Kansas, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cyrus was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Leo, Virgil and Joe; sisters, Mary Logan and Ida Nicholson; and son-in-law, Brady Dempcy. Burial with military honors was in the St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery, Indianola, NE. Monday, June 11, 2012 McCook Daily Gazette
