Cooper Warren Abbott

LIMERICK -- Cooper Coop W. Abbott, 41, formerly of East Waterboro and resident of Quarry Road, Limerick, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Southern Maine Medical Center. He was born in Saco on Aug. 27, 1965, a son of Clinton W. and Marjorie (Libby) Abbott of East Waterboro. He graduated from Massabesic High School with the class of 1983. Coop was always an inquisitive kid who liked working with his hands and helped out at his parents' marina. He worked with F.R. Carroll during high school and following driving truck. He drove long haul with his dad cross-country and soon realized he liked staying close to home. He owned and operated CW Abbott & Sons Trucking. Cooper was a devoted father and enjoyed having his sons every weekend and during school vacations. He was a fan of NASCAR and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. He loved the outdoors and liked having a good time with family and friends. He was very caring and though he was the youngest with two older sisters, he made sure he screened their dates and would often remark he had three mothers! He is survived by his parents of East Waterboro; two sons, Daniel and Cody Abbott of Limington; two sisters, Shirley Hutchins and husband Douglas of Lyman, and Cheryl Edgerly and husband Donald of Limerick; two nephews, Robert Edgerly of New York and Heath Edgerly and wife Michelle of Limerick; a niece, Melissa Giles and husband Patrick of Old Orchard Beach; and three grandnephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the North Shapleigh Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Burnham, officiating. There will be no calling hours.
