About Charles Maastricht

Charles Maastricht, 84, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born in Waupun on October 25, 1920, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Broadway) Maastricht. He graduated from Waupun High School in 1938 and attended Marquette University. He entered the Navy in 1943 as an Ensign and taught flying at Pensacola, Florida during WW II. He continued in the Navy as a Reservist until 1956. He married Peggy (Wilburn) on April 15, 1944, in Milwaukee. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer, designing machines for Giddings and Lewis Machine Tool Company in Fond du Lac for 42 years and retired in 1982. He was a past President of the Giddings and Lewis Staff Club, a member of Eagles Aerie #270, and a member of the Rock Club of Fond du Lac. He enjoyed hobbies such as woodworking, rock collecting, precious stones, jewelry making, and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy, his four daughters, Cheryl (David) Nolan of Rio Verde, AZ, Karen (Roland) Hausauer of Fond du Lac, Judy (John) Stroschine of Hayward, WI, and Joan Gilles (Husband Scott Traum) of Woodbury, MN, eight grandchildren, Grant Guns, GiGi Bealkowski, Elizabeth Eulgen, James Hausauer, Lisa Desruisseaux, Jason Stroschine, Jennifer Stroschine, and Katie Gilles, and eight-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Viola Maastricht and Marie Zickert, and two brothers, Robert and Peter. Funeral Information A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A luncheon at the Eagles Club will follow prior to the committal services. The Rev. Tony Farina will officiate and inurnment of cremated remains will be in Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun. Members of Bentley-Hall American Legion Post #210 of Waupun will conduct graveside military rites. The family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice Hope or the American Cancer Society.
