Charles H. Kachmarik

Charles “Chuck” H. Kachmarik, Jr., 70, of South Salem, NY, formerly of Endwell, NY died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Regional Hospice, Danbury, CT. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles H. Sr. and Helen Jane Kachmarik and parents-in-law, Joseph and Julia Moran. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joan (Moran) Kachmarik, his brothers Richard Kachmarik and Stephen Kachmarik, their wives and children. He was a graduate of Broome Technical Community College (now SUNY Broome Community College) and continued his education at SUNY Binghamton (now Binghamton University) receiving a BA and MA. Chuck began his career at the Binghamton, NY office of Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers), becoming a certified Public Accountant (CPA) and being admitted as Partner in 1978. He practiced at the Syracuse, NY office and transferred to the NYC office, where he was responsible for the East Coast Health Consulting practice and Financial Analysis Services, nationally. In 1996, he joined Sterling Health Capital Management as President and CEO. This health care strategic planning and capital formation firm was later acquired by Deloitte & Touche LLP. As a Partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP, Chuck was responsible for the health care “Solutions” practice in NY, NJ, and CT. In 2002, he created Salem Solutions LLC, as a firm dedicated to strategic planning, capital formation and turnaround strategies for the health care industry. Throughout his career, he lectured extensively on a variety of health care topics. Chuck was an advisor to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Health Care Programs (Hospital Insured Loan Program) for more than 20 years. In that capacity, he reviewed hospital and medical center applications for financing new facilities and/or renovations of existing facilities. Chuck was an adjunct professor at New York University lecturing on health care financing. At Binghamton University, he served on the Board of Advisors for the Executive MBA for Health Care Professionals Program offered by the School of Management. He was also a lecturer sharing his health care knowledge with program participants at the Binghamton campus and in NYC. His professional affiliations included the NYS Society of CPAs (former Chairman, Health Care Committee), American Institute of CPAs, Healthcare Financial Management Association, NY Society for Health Planning and other health care related organizations. Chuck was an avid reader of mystery novels, enjoyed golfing in healthcare charity events and vacationing in Saratoga, NY during the thoroughbred racing season.
