About Cecilia Abbott
Cecilia M. Abbott, 87, of Freeport died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at her home. She was born Dec. 2, 1922, at St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada, a daughter of Michael and Carrie (Bennett) Mahoney. Cecilia married Robert Abbott March 3, 1951, in Waverley, Iowa. He died Dec. 16, 1994. She was employed by F & F Assembly Co. in Pecatonica and at Micro Switch. Survivors include her son, Bill Abbott of Freeport; sister, Patricia Singeltary of Canada; also many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband and son, James. Cremation rites were accorded. There will be no services. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Arrangements were completed by Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.
