Catherine L. Zahringer

Catherine L Zahringer Sherwood, WI Catherine L. Zahringer, age 92, of Sherwood, died on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at her home. She was born February 21, 1918 in Stockbridge, daughter of the late John & Anna (Walsh) Campbell. She married Walter Zahringer on September 3, 1945 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1992. Before her marriage, Catherine taught at small country school houses in the area. Following her marriage, she helped her husband on the farm and enjoyed raising a large family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood where she also belonged to the St. Anne Society. Catherine was looking forward to this early summer when she would have celebrated her 75th anniversary of graduating from Stockbridge High School. She was extremely proud of her Irish Heritage; a passion she instilled in her children. Catherine's greatest love was her family. She cherished the holiday get-togethers, birthdays, and any other reason she could think of to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Eileen (Gary) Bornemann of St. John, Carol (Nick) Halbach of St. John, Kathleen (John) Pitzen of Sherwood, Betty Zahringer of Sherwood, Eugene Zahringer of Menasha, Thomas (Sandra) Zahringer of Brillion, Joseph (Dawn) Zahringer of Sherwood; 15 grandchildren: Tracie (Rich) Perronne, Lori (Tom) Gruett, Tim (Jeanne) Bornemann, Kristi (Gary) Lau, Missy (Wes) Moreau, Wendy (Tim) Sohrweide, Mathew Halbach, Mike Halbach, Kelly Pitzen and fiance Chris Luedeke, Andy (Amanda) Pitzen, Kyle, Cory, Anna, Robert & Emma, Zahringer, Ben Michael, and Sara Geiger; 13 great-grandchildren: Trevor, Brett, Brady, Bryce, Jenna, Kaylee, Bennett, Evan, Logan, Taylor, Calvin, Katelyn, & Morgan; a sister: Mary Brantmeier; 2 brothers-in-law: Irv & Clarence Zahringer; and a sister-in-law: Alvina (Art) Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Walter, a son: Robert Zahringer; 2 sisters; 6 brothers; and 5 brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood with the Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
