Catherine DiGirolomo D'Amour

Buffalo News and Niagara Gazette CATHERINE (CICERO) DIGIROLOMO D'AMOUR FEB. 27, 1913 -- DEC. 7, 2004 Catherine D'Amour of Niagara Falls, a former nurse at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, died Tuesday in Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing in Dublin, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was 91. She was born on February 27, 1913, in Wilgus, Pa., the daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah (Rocco) Cicero. She moved as a child with her family to Niagara Falls. She graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School as a licensed practical nurse. During her 35-year career, she also worked for Dr. Irwin Sidenburg here. In 1968, she moved to Boston, Mass., to work at Salem Hospital. She returned to Niagara Falls in 1982, where she remained until six months ago, when she moved to Columbus, Ohio. Her first husband, Carl DiGirolomo, died in 1965. Her second husband, Leo D'Amour, in 1989. Survivors include two sons, Lee (Nancy) of Middleton, Mass., and James of Nottingham, N.H.; a sister, Margaret Daniels of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son John S. (Barbara of Dover, NH) DiGirolomo (former first wife Joan C. DiGirolomo of Cincinnati, OH). She was also predeceased by by her brothers and sisters, Mary (late Peter) Reele, Fiore (Christina of Binghamton, NY) Cicero, Anthony (late Gertrude) Cicero, Josephine (Louis of Bradenton, FL) Reele, and Louise Mazza. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. today in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 620 Center St., Lewiston. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls. The grandchildren and sons of Catherine DiGirolomo D'Amour want to express their deep gratitude to all of the wonderful relatives and friends that watched over Catherine throughout her entire life, especially Maryanne and Roy Coriere who loved her very much. Catherine herself was a caregiver to many over her life and that is how we will remember her. Carl
