About Carolyn Bresnahan

Carolyn R Bresnahan June 10, 1927 - April 29, 2020 BEVERLY - Carolyn R. “Sis” (Davis) Bresnahan, 92, passed away at Beverly Hospital on April 29, 2020 due to complications from the COVID-19 virus. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Bresnahan. A lifelong resident of Beverly until she made her residence at Putnam Farm Assisted Living in Danvers in 2018. Born on June 10, 1927 Carolyn was the daughter of the late William H. and M. Caroline Davis. She attended St. Mary’s Grammar School, St. Mary’s High School and graduated from Emmanuel College in 1948. She and Bob were married in 1950 and raised their five children in Beverly. When her children were older, she returned to college and received her master’s degree in education from Salem State College. She began teaching in the secretarial department at Endicott Junior College before moving to North Shore Community College, where she retired in 1989. Carolyn was a devoted member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish, Beverly, where she served as a lector. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality, Pax Christi and a recipient of the Parish Legacy Award in 2007, as well as serving on many committees and volunteer work over the years. She loved to travel and golf. She was a past member of Wenham Country Club. Carolyn is survived by her five children and their spouses. Sons Robert and wife Shirlee of Mashpee, MA, William and wife Carol of Tucson, AZ, Richard and wife Barbara of Wilmington, MA, David and wife Debra of Scarborough, ME and daughter Lyn and husband Jay Leahy of Beverly. She was the sister of the late William H. Davis III. She was the proud grandmother of Kelly and husband Matt Riechers, Carrie and husband Scott Shepard, Maj. James and Peter Bresnahan, Kate, Jennifer and Krista Bresnahan, Gregory and Stephen Bresnahan and Thomas Leahy. As well as her four great grandchildren Maddie, Bella, Olivia and Emmett, she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Joan-Marie Bresnahan. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Beverly Hospital J5 for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. Carolyn was laid to rest at the North Beverly Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly.
