About Carol Novak
The Belleville Telescope, April 28, 2022 Carol Dean Novak, the daughter of Edwin Scott Halferty and Zella May (Haldeman) Halferty, was born November 2, 1940, in Denver, CO and died on April 21, 2022, at her home in Belleville, KS at the age of 81 years, five months, and nine days. She graduated from Haddam High School in the class of 1958. In 1961, she married Edward B. Novak and to this union was born: John, Steven, Lana and Carrie. The couple lived on a farm near Belleville where she lived for over 50 years. She recently moved to Belleville related to her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a homemaker and dietary aid at the Belleville Health Care Center for more than 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on July 22, 2002 ; parents, Edwin and Zella Halferty; and one sister, Karon Halferty. She is survived by her four children: Carrie S. Novak, John E. (Michelle) Novak, Steven A. Novak, and Lana J. Novak; five grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Mendenhall of Concordia, KS and Mary Atkins of Fairbury, NE; one brother, Edwin (Carolyn) Halferty of Clyde, KS. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 29 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, with Reverend Sang Hak Lee, officiating. Interment followed at the the Tabor Cemetery, rural Munden, KS.
