About Carl Thompson
CARL THOMPSON, 85, died Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Hendrick Hospice Care. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Bethel Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home. Family visitation will be 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Adams-Graham Funeral Home. Born August 26, 1937, in Hamlin, Carl was the son of the late Hooks and Hazel (Nowlin) Thompson. He graduated from Dayton High School and attended Texas Tech University. Carl married Betty Nix July 31, 1959, in Anson. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school classes, helped with Kings Kids and was a youth group leader for many years. Carl served Farmers Coop Board of Directors, the Big County Electric Board of Directors and was a former Trustee of the Anson ISD. Survivors include his wife, Betty Thompson of Anson; one son, Randy Thompson (and wife, Patti) of Abilene; one daughter, Carla Light (and husband, Andrew) of Charlottesville, Virginia; one sister, Linda Brown of Victoria; four grandchildren, Meagan Ruse (and husband, Tim), Hailee Cammack (and husband, Devon), Andie Lauren Light and Wade Light; and four great-grandchildren, Holden Ruse, Fount Ruse, Sadie Ruse and Violet Ruse.
