C. Robert Schaney

SCHANEY, C. Robert "Bob" Age 84 of Hamilton went home to be with the Lord in the home of his daughter on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 6:29 A.M. He was born in Hamilton on January 17, 1922, the son of Christ and Nellie (Hampton) Schaney. Bob was a veteran of WWII with the United States Army from 1939 to 1943 serving with the 36th Infantry Division, 142nd Infantry Regiment serving in Africa and Italy receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was very active in the Optimist International serving as distinguished governor of the Ohio District, 14 years as district chairman, secretary Optimist of the Year, President of the Hamilton Evening and acting chairman of the Fairfield Optimist Club. He was very active in the YMCA Youth Groups for over 19 years. He was employed as a benefits specialist for Champion International for 33 years retiring in 1977 and then became a real estate supervisor for the Butler Co. Auditor's Office for eight years retiring in 1987. On November 30, 1940 in Covington, Kentucky, he was married to Jewell Combs. He is survived by his wife Jewell Schaney of Hamilton; one daughter, Marcia and her husband Ronald Bagley of Hamilton; three grandsons, Ronnie Lee (Rachael) Bagley of Seven Mile, Dan (Amy) Bagley of Hamilton and Dave (Erin) Bagley of Ross; also eight grandchildren, Hayley, Reid, Elizabeth, Hunter, Anna, Madalyn, Sam and Katie. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clifford Schaney and one sister, Doris Schaney. Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 10A.M. with Rev. Mike Luzecky, Pastor of the Covenant Life Church officiating. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5P.M. to 8P.M. Published in Journal-News on June 12, 2006
