Published November 19, 2017 - Press Enterprise C. Richard “Dick” Reichart, age 87, 672 Sawmill Road, Bloomsburg, died at his home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Born in Scott Township, on April 22, 1930, he was a son of the late Raymond and Bess (Megargel) Reichart, He resided in Scott Township most of his life and was a 1948 graduate of the former Scott Township High School. He also attended the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College. Dick was employed at the former Reichart Lumber & Supplies, Inc., Lightstreet, for 40 years. He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg; Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436; Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion; Fort McClure Post 804, VFW; Tirolesi Alpini Club, Hazleton; and was a life member of the Lightstreet Community Fire Co. Dick was an Eagle Scout and in his younger years played on the Lightstreet team in the Tri County League as a left-handed pitcher and also as a manager. An avid golfer, he scored a hole in one in 1996. He was a loyal sports fan of the Bloomsburg University and Penn State University teams. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on board the U.S.S. El Dorado, serving in Korea for 26 months. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Helen Mertz and Phyllis Stas; and by four brothers: Paul I. Reichart, Charles L. Reichart, Barton Reichart, and Donald E. Reichart. Dick is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Donar, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage on Aug. 17, 2017; a brother, Dale H. Reichart, and his wife, Dorothy, Lightstreet; a sister, Charlotte “Peggy” Sharpless, Brookfield, Wis.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at noon in St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 9 St. Luke Way, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, the Rev. John E. Fenton, officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Weston, with military honors by the combined veterans group.
