Byron Kent Faden

He was the son of John and Edith (Funk) Faden. Byron was a long time resident of Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, moving to Trenton, Missouri in 1986, where he made his home until his death Wednesday, at the age of seventy-four years. Byron graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1946. He graduated from Mohler Barber College in 1949. He was a barber at Ottawa for thirty years. He left barbering and started working at Budge's Sport Center in Ottawa. Later, he and three friends bought the business. In 1986, he sold his part of the business and moved to Trenton. He was the manager of the Riverside Country Club for two years and worked at the Elks Lodge for two years. In 1990, he became an antique dealer in Jamesport, Missouri and operated Byron's Antiques in the Balcony House Mall. Byron served in the United States Navy from 1946 until his discharge in 1948. Most of that time was spent in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Riverside Country Club and Trenton Lodge #801, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. While in Ottawa, he coached Babe Ruth league baseball for several years and followed the Ottawa High School and Ottawa University athletics. He was honored for his loyal support of the Ottawa Braves during their 1998 Hall of Fame Ceremony. Byron was an avid golfer. Two of his shining moments of his game were his two hole-in-ones at his home course, Riverside, and also on a course in McAllen, Texas. He also loved following Jayhawk Basketball, whether it be attending games or watching the games on T.V. On November 7, 1948, Byron was united in marriage with Carolyn Pennell at Olathe, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Faden; and, three nieces, Janet Blachly, Pamela Mayes, and Rexann Dunn. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rebecca Shelden.
