Brian John "BJ" Lustig, age 93 November 7, 1929 – April 29, 2023 Brian John "BJ" Lustig, age 93, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 6:44 PM – Saturday, April 29, 2023, at HSHS St Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. Brian John, better known as BJ, was born on November 7, 1929, in rural Wheeler, Illinois, the son of Edgar and Viola (Steppe) Lustig. He married Margie Ann Probst on October 10, 1959, and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2004. BJ worked at J.M. Schultz Seed in Dieterich and retired after many years of service. Following his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Dieterich School District for 10 years. BJ was a member of the St Isidore Parish and the Effingham American Legion. He enjoyed going to horse races, gardening, woodworking and playing cards, especially pitch. BJ was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Brad Lustig, siblings Jerry Lustig, Charlie Lustig, Wendell Lustig, Madonna Clayton, Marilyn Polakovic, Lillian Croft and Carol Richardson. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Dieterich, Illinois, with full military rites.
