About Betty Taylor
Betty Jean Taylor, age 95 of Sparta and formerly of Casnovia, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She was born on November 19, 1927 to Ray and Ethel Osbun of Casnovia. She married Theodore Taylor on November 24, 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Taylor; her parents, Ray & Ethel Osbun; her son, David Taylor; her brother, Howard Osbun; and her sister, Dorothy Rider. Betty is survived by her children, Jim (Karen) Taylor of Norton Shores, Martin (Amy) Taylor of Kent City, Sheryl (Dennis) Loveland of Casnovia, and Jack (Teresa) Taylor of Ravenna; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was a founding member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Joy Circle where she assisted with many luncheons and fundraiser dinners for the church. She worked many years for the Kent City School food service program until her retirement in 1990. Betty loved traveling with friends, including trips to Florida during the winter and many bus excursions. A memorial service gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be given to Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids or Meadowlark/Porter Hills of Sparta.
