Beth Lynn Kirk September 19, 1967 ~ April 20, 2023 (age 55) It is with profound sorrow that the family of Beth Lynn (Lyon) Kirk, 55, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, announce her unexpected passing on April 20, 2023. Despite this grief, her family takes great comfort in the knowledge of a loving God – and that love is stronger than death. Beth was born on September 19, 1967 at Fort Brooke in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Major Joseph R. Lyon, Jr., USMC Ret., and Laura J. (Drago) Lyon, who reside in Fredericksburg. As a child in a military family, she also grew up in Hawaii, Kansas, Florida, and eventually Virginia. She was a graduate of Osborn Park High School in Manassas, Virginia, and completed an Associate's Degree and certification in Interior Design at Northern Virginia Community College. She was currently employed at Trivett's Furniture in Fredericksburg. Beth was polished, poised and fiercely independent. She had a keen eye for design and a natural ability to beautify any space – by her presence, her style, and her artistic talents. Beth had a competitive spirit, and once raced the 674 steps to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, capitalizing on the fact that no one else was taking the stairs, and she was not inclined to wait for an elevator. Beth had an adventurous spirit; she loved to travel, to see the world and share it with her sons. And she was happiest when she was coordinating an event or party or some type of gathering for others. Beth was a devoted daughter and a loving mother, sister, and aunt. Left to cherish her memory are her parents; her sons, Jessed Kirk, also of Fredericksburg, and Luis Kirk of Haymarket, Virginia; her brothers, Joseph (Theresa) of Manassas, Virginia, and Steven (Amy) of Woodbridge, Virginia; several nieces and nephews as well great nieces and great nephews. She will also be missed by her dear friends, Barbara McKneely, Ron Lipps, Cheryl and Roger Flint, all of Fredericksburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1009 Stafford Avenue, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401, with Father Mosimann, celebrant. Private inurnment will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Beth's name to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children, located at 9384-C Forestwood Lane, Manassas, VA 20110.
