Bernadine Irene Ihly

Bernadine Ihly, 84, of Dickinson, ND, formerly from Bowman, ND, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial for Bernadine will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman. Fr. David Morman will celebrate the Mass with burial to follow in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. There will be a Rosary and Vigil Service for Bernadine on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the St. Charles Catholic Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. Bernadine was born January 6, 1930 in Mott, North Dakota to Martin and Anna Marie (Flohr) Roth. She moved with her parents as a young girl to Baker, Montana. She attended grade school and high school in the Baker schools. In 1947, she married Milan Steiber. She had three children in this marriage: Diana, Janet, and Vince. Living in Baker, she worked for many years at the Red Owl Grocery Store. In 1963, she moved to Bowman, N.D. and married Glen Ihly. They had two children: Glenora and James. They managed the Bowman Haley Dam Marina for seven years. They also managed the Ranch Bowl for several years. She worked at St. Charles Catholic Church as caretaker of the church for ten years and served as a sacristan for twenty years. She was a member of St. Charles Church, belonged to St. James Francis Circle, and Charter Member of Catholic Daughters. During her time as a Catholic Daughter, she held an office for ten years. In 2005, she was chosen as the Outstanding Catholic Daughter at the Grand Forks Convention. The church and her family were very important to Bernadine. She is survived by her children Diana (Tom) Langlee, Janet (Roy) Fischer, Vince (special friend Louise) Steiber, Glenora (Tim) Ridl, James (Kathy) Ihly; her six grandchildren Adam (Donna) Fischer, Eric (Sherrie) Fischer, John (Ashley) Fischer, Brittney (James) Mills, Kaitlin (Tony) Maus, Christina Ridl, and Anthony Dunlap; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Eileen Keller and Ruth Brooking, special godchild Andrea Keller Witzel, as well as many other wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen, her parents, five brothers, and one sister. Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services of Bowman in charge of the arrangements.
