Barbara J Larsen

Barbara J. Larsen, passed away of natural causes at her home in Park Ridge, WI on May 14, 2022. Barbara was born on April 5, 1928, daughter of Lucile and Theobald Otjen Sneddon, in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Holy Angels High School in 1946. She was married to Charles Larsen on July 14, 1951. They began their life together in Mineral Point, WI where "Chuck" established his dental practice. The family relocated to Stevens Point in 1965. She was proud of graduating from Mount Mary College (1950) in Milwaukee as an Occupational Therapist and was active for many years as a volunteer for Operation Bootstrap in Stevens Point. But she was most proud of raising her family of five children. Seventy years as Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Aunt drew her to many endearing moments that only a mom can handle: from Carnegie Hall recitals, to never missing someone's birthday, to emergency room runs for a myriad of broken bones. She did it all: golfing, bowling, Bridge Club and loved her flowers and her birds. She was quick with a game show answer, solving a crossword puzzle, or knitting a stocking hat. The most important opinion to her was always "yours". That's why she is our special "Barbie Doll". She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles Larsen; two brothers, Theobald Sneddon and John Sneddon; and great grandson, Isaiah Riege. Survivors include her five children, Eric Larsen, Winston Salem, NC, Sue Pliska (John), Junction City, WI, Chris Larsen (Bonnie McInteer), Crested Butte, CO, Mary Lu Larsen (Wayne Vautrin, deceased), Duluth, MN and Andrew Larsen, Stevens Point, WI; nieces LuAnne Sneddon Pendergraft (Don), Chapel Hill, NC, Amy Sneddon McKnight (Neil), Chicago, IL, grandchildren Megan Jean (Corey) Madison WI, Emily Riege (Gabe) Sun Prairie WI, Ben Pliska (Cynthia) Denver CO, Josie Vautrin, Minneapolis, MN, Jules Vautrin, Duluth, MN, Aurora Vautrin (Andrew Beeman), Minneapolis, MN; and great grandchildren, Nona, Ania and Ruby Jean, Graham, Nolan and Emmett Riege, Rennick Pliska. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Operation Bootstrap, 5000 Heffron Street, Stevens Point, WI 54481 A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Boston Funeral Home.
