His James H. Davis Funeral Home obituary: Mannie Wathen, 75, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at his home. He was born on April 13, 1930 in Daviess County, KY to the late Mary Bertha (Payne) and Forrest Gregory Wathen. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. Mannie retired in 1994 from Medley Distilling Company/Glenmore Distilleries/United Distillers, after 48 years of employment. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Wathen, on June 6, 1976 and by a sister, Louise "Chub" Gough, who died in December 2005. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Devins Wathen; three sons, James "Jimmy" Wathen of Winchester, KY, Greg "Peggs" Wathen of Owensboro and Michael Wathen and his wife, Diane, of Garner, NC; five daughters, Sandra "Sandy" Wathen, Jennifer Wilson and her husband, Check, Jeanette Brown and her husband, Pat, all of Owensboro, Martha Dant and her husband, Paul, of West Louisville, KY and Darlene Wilson of Port Charlotte, FL; one brother, Robert "Bob" Wathen and his wife, Annette of Paducah, KY; four sisters and their husbands, Charlie and John Conkright, Joann and Gilbert Moore, Celine and Bruce Kenney all of Owensboro and Mary Helen "Hooter" and Paul Roberts of Orlando, FL; 15 grandchildren, Jackie Jones, Aaron Wathen, Lindsey Wathen, Christopher Wilson, Nicole Wilson, Meredith Dant, Samantha Wathen, Alison Wathen, Kevin Brown, Sean Brown, Lauren Brown, Ryne Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Leslie Wilson and Sam Wilson; and one great grandson, Austin Hacker. His funeral Mass is at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Burial is in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Owensboro, KY. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. on Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
