About ANNIE BROWN

Annie Lou was the eldest daughter born to the late Johnnie B. and Hattie Mae Mathis. She was born and reared in Crisp County, Georgia. She attended Piney Grove Church School, Gillespie-Seldane Institute, and A.S. Clark High School in Cordele, GA. At an early age she began to take care of her younger siblings, while her parents worked to provide for the family. On October 22, 1960, she married the late Willie B. (Buddy) Brown and the new family, Buddy, Annie Lou, and daughter Diane Mathis moved to Titusville, Florida. Later, to their union three beautiful children were born Anthony, Wanda, and Beauford Brown. Annie Lou's Christian journey began at an early age when she joined the Spring Hill Baptist Church, Crisp County where she served as Church Secretary. After moving to Titusville, she joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Woodson. She then joined St. John Primitive Baptist Church, Mims, FL, under the pastorage of Elder Matthew Brooks. She served in many capacities including Mother Board, Usher President, Sunday School teacher and custodian. She served there faithfully until her heath began to fail. Annie Lou worked tirelessly for Brevard County School Board and later retired after 36 years of service to take care of her great-grandson, Cameron. Annie Lout legacy is one of helping others and caring for her family that she loved dearly. She often opened her home to family and friends when needed without fanfare. She is preceded in death by her parents; children Diane L. Mathis and Anthony Brown; siblings, John Mathis, Eddie B Mathis, Mary Mathis, Adele Harrell, Rubin Mathis, and Willie B. Mathis. She leaves to mourn a loving and devoted daughter Wanda Brown and son Beauford Brown, granddaughter Angela Mathis and great-grandson Master Cameron Mathis; Siblings, Dr. Ruby Jackson of Cordele, GA., James Mathis of Orlando, FL; Brothers-in-Law, Randolph Harrell of Orlando, FL, and Oscar Brown of Jacksonville, FL; Sisters-in-Law, Lillie Mathis of Cordele, GA, Mary P. Mathis of Valdosta, GA, Norma Mathis of Orlando, FL, and Carolyn Brown of Titusville, FL; devoted niece Barbara Mathis of Orlando, FL, and Godsons, James Grayson of Miami, FL, Clemmie Gaston, Jr. and William Fallen of Merritt Island, FL, and Henry Johnson of Cocoa, FL; close friends, Marie Hall, Bernice Gibbs, Barbara McCloud, Wanda Knight, and Sis Agnes Brooks. She also leaves to mourn a host of many other loving relatives and sorrowing friends. Annie Lou has left her footprints on many, many hearts and she will definitely be missed.
