About Anna Oakes
NOTE: The WA Death Certificate gave place of birth as Bellingham, WA but the obituary has Colfax, WI which was used here. The Bellingham Herald (WA) 25 Jan 1994, Tue Anna L. Oakes, age 100 years, passed away in Bellingham on Tues Jan 18, 1994. She was born on Oct 17, 1893 to Lars and Mary Larson in Colfax, WI and moved to Ferndale in 1906. On Oct 18, 1913 she married Earl M. Oakes in Ferndale and they farmed all their adult lives. He preceded her in death in 1971. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Stark and Cora Pehrson; two sons, Harold W. and Stuart M. Oakes. She was an active member of the United Church of Ferndale. She is survived by a son Francis Oakes and a sister Gladys Erickson both of Ferndale; a daughter-in-law Victoria Oakes of Bellingham; granddaughters Marianne Ott of Seattle and Paula Lingenfelter of Boise ID; grandsons Terry and Michael Oakes of Ferndale. Graveside services will be held Mon Jan 24, 1 am at Enterprise Cemetery with Pastor Richard Wyanski officiating. Visitation hours will be Sat Jan 22, 3-8 pm at Moles Funeral Home, Ferndale.
