Anita Louise Buck

Anita Louise (Cunningham) Buck, age 86, of Paragould, passed away from this life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Anita was born on August 18, 1936, to the late Leo Winston Cunningham and Mildred Delilah (McDaniel) Cunningham in Paragould, Arkansas. Anita was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and adoring sister to her brother, Alfred. She was very family oriented, and loved holiday family gatherings. Anita raised two children, and as her daughters say, "was the best mother in the world." In the summer, her favorite activities were gardening and camping at the lake, where so many wonderful memories were made. Anita graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1954, where she played on the women's basketball team. She kept in touch with her classmates and enjoyed meeting them for lunch. She was an avid supporter of the Greene County Tech Marching Eagles, where she and her husband helped raise money for the first band uniforms. Anita worked at the shoe factory in Paragould, Emerson Electric, Monroe, and was a poll worker during election time. She always kept busy; between jobs she worked as a substitute teacher for South Elementary Grade School. The children adored her and she served as the "homeroom mother," bringing homemade cookies and Kool-Aid. Anita was a 1946 lifetime member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church, supporting the Cemetery Committee which her mother and brother served and her nephew continues to serve. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband, Leland "Sonny" Buck, Jr.; her precious brother, Alfred (Marion) Cunningham; brothers-in-law, Alvin Buck, Gaylon Buck, Jerry Buck; and son-in-law, Jim Green. Left behind to cherish her memories are her children, Lynn (George) Morris and Tammy Hedges; brother-in-law, Jackie Buck; sisters-in-law, Puggy Buck and Cheryl Buck; grandchildren, Ashley Austin, Megan (Jason) Miller, and Adam (Casey) Morris; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hicks, Keegan Hicks, and Adalyn Morris; along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. with Bro. Eddie Gene Wright and Bro. Royce Boling officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Brown's Chapel Cemetery in Paragould. There will be a reception at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church following the service, with a meal provided by the church for all family and friends. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jerry Cunningham, Greg Cunningham, Tim Buck, Ricky Buck, Anthony Buck, Jerry Buck, Bryan Buck, and Brad Buck. Special family friend, Eddie Anderson, will be serving as an honorary pallbearer.
