About Andrew Jackson
Andrew Chris Jackson was born Merlin Criss Allen 4 Mar 1908 in Bloomfield, Nebraska to Milford Allen, and Antonetta Engelhart. His parents had been married Dec. 1904 in Pender, Nebraska. Antonetta's brother Lambert was married to Milford's sister Martha. Milford Allen, died 26 Jun 1910. It would appear from the records that Antonetta and Milford separated before his death and pregnant with her third child Antonetta Engelhart Allen moved with her two children, Ethel and Andrew, to her mother's homestead north of Davenport, Washington where her mother and some of her brothers were living. Violet was born in Davenport 23 Apr 1910. Antonetta remarried Lewis Monroe Lattimore 23 Dec 1911 in Davenport, Washington. Sometime before 1915 the family relocated to Gregory County South Dakota where they lived until 1936. School records and census records place Merlin Allen in the household until 1925. It is reported that Merlin did not get along with his step father Lewis Lattimore so left the home sometime after 1925, and changed his name to Andrew Chris Jackson. He married Clara Thelma Punteney on 24 Dec 1936 in Bayard, Nebraska. They lived in Bayard, Nebraska where their first three daughters were born until 1947 when the family moved to Marion County, Oregon.
