About Alice Lawson
Alice Lawson FEBRUARY 11, 1931 – JANUARY 14, 2023 Metcalf Funeral Directors Alice Anita Walker Lawson was born in Conroe Texas to Vernon and Madeline Astor Walker on February 11, 1931. She served in the Navy Medical Corp from 1951 to 1952. Anita married Donald Ray Lawson on September 29, 1951. Anita and Don were married for 59 years until his death in 2010. Anita supported Don as a devoted wife throughout his 29 years of service in the US Navy. Anita lived out her deep Christian faith serving throughout her life in a wide variety of church ministries. After retirement from the Navy Anita and Don settled in the Houston Missouri area where Anita established a Christian bookstore which she ran for seven years. Anita is preceded in death by her parents, one son (Carroll Vernon Lawson) and her husband. She is survived by one sister (Nella Johnston), son Donald Ray Lawson Jr. (Sue), daughter Madeline Lawson Pruitt (Van), son Brent Alan Lawson (Sandra), brother-in-law Carroll M Lawson (Joye), grandchildren Pam Kromer, Melissa Moss (Kevin), Aaron Lawson (Lindsay), Shannon Sims (James), David Lawson, Candace Lawson, Travis Lawson (Amber), Donnie Lawson (Cinthya), Brian Lawson, John Lawson, Anita Fail, Jessica Lee (Jasen), 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends. A Viewing will be held Friday, Jan 20, 2023 from 9 - 11 AM at Metcalf Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 2023 at 12 Noon in the Old Waverly Cemetery.
